London-based oil painter Salma Istwani creates visually dramatic, often enigmatic and sometimes surreal depictions of human form and experience.  Her most recent work explores the complex relationships many of us have with the ideas and systems that form our societies, and the "vicious cycles" these create within our personal narratives.

Salma is a member of RIOT SOUP, an art collective and community for Black and Brown women artists in London.
